🍴 Food & Drink on the Lizard
🥙 Ellie’s Soul Kitchen, Nestled in a meadow just off Kynance Lane, Ellie’s Soul Kitchen is a true hidden gem. Ellie and Sam serve fresh, vibrant, soulful food made with care and creativity. Expect delicious dishes such as Jackfruit Shawarma, Moroccan Beef Tagine, homemade pickles, and excellent vegan options. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the surroundings are beautiful, and the food leaves you feeling nourished rather than heavy. A must-visit during your stay.🌮 Chimmichangas – Tex-Mex at The Lizard Opened in 2024, this family-run restaurant brings bold Tex-Mex flavours to The Lizard Village. Dishes are created by talented Guatemalan chef Marynes, blending her Central American roots with spicy Tex-Mex flair and fresh Cornish produce.
🍹 The bar stays open late on Fridays and Saturdays, serving excellent Margaritas.🥟 Ann’s Pasties- Proudly Cornish and fiercely local. All suppliers are within 10 miles, deeply connected to Cornwall’s land and farming heritage. Every pasty is a true taste of the area – simple, honest, and delicious.

The menu includes seafood sandwiches, salads, Cornish pasties, fish & chips, tea, coffee, and whippy ice cream.

Outdoor seating available, plus wet fish and shellfish for sale.🍺 The Witchball – Britain’s Most Southerly Pub. Once a 15th-century cottage, now a cosy and characterful pub. Low beams, a warming stove, local real ales, and a friendly atmosphere.
Food from Lizard Shellfish can be ordered and brought to your table. There’s also a large outdoor seating area – perfect on sunny days.

☕ Polpeor Café- Britain’s most southerly café, perched dramatically on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Stunning views and a wonderful atmosphere – ideal for a scenic coffee stop.
🌊 Wavecrest Café- Situated above the iconic Lizard Point, Wavecrest has been serving visitors since the 1930s. A favourite with locals and holidaymakers alike, offering food and drink with unbeatable views.
☀️ Coast – Barista & Restaurant-Family-run and located in the heart of The Lizard Village. A varied menu for all tastes, including a fantastic breakfast.
Sunny patio seating, dog-friendly and child-friendly.🍻 The Top House- Just a minute’s walk from the bus stop, this traditional 18th-century Cornish pub offers a warm welcome, great food, and local ales. Expect beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls, a cosy fireplace, and even classic cream teas.
🍟 Smugglers Fish & Chips-A family-owned takeaway committed to quality and sustainability. Fresh locally caught fish (cod, haddock, mackerel), hand-cut chips from local potatoes, homemade fishcakes, and the famous “Most Southerly Fried Chicken.” Smugglers uses a biomass boiler to reduce its environmental impact and focuses on reducing food miles wherever possible.
🌊 Days Out & Things To Do
🧗♂️ Lizard Adventure – Coasteering, Kayaking & Paddleboarding- Adrenaline-fuelled adventures along Cornwall’s dramatic coastline. Activities include cliff jumping, scrambling, sea swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding, all led by expert guides.
Sessions run from Mullion Cove, Church Cove, Bass Point, Cadgwith, and Mullion.
🧗 Tide Climbing Centre (Helston) A fantastic indoor bouldering centre with 300m² of climbing plus two Kilter Boards – great for rainy days or active rest days.🎭 The Tolmen Centre (Constantine, near Falmouth) A vibrant rural arts centre offering theatre, film, music, art, and food. Check their website for current events and bookings.
🎬 Lizard Arts, Film & Theatre Association (LAFTA) Well worth checking for a dose of local talent and community spirit, with films, theatre, and creative events throughout the year.
🍺 The Blue Anchor, Helston-Hop on the Number 34 bus right outside the campsite entrance and you’ll be dropped directly outside this historic pub. Dating back to around 1400, Spingo ale has been brewed here for over 600 years.

Tip: Park at St Erth and take the scenic 12-minute train ride into town – far less stress and beautiful views.
🚤 History, Heritage & Walks🚑 Lizard Lifeboat Station (RNLI)-Most Tuesdays at 6:30pm, the lifeboat launches for training – well worth watching.
The station includes a heritage centre, Tamar-class lifeboat, and souvenir shop, perched 200 feet above Kilcobben Cove.
Access via 150+ steps or a funicular railway (by prior arrangement).
Opening times usually 10:00am – 3:30pm on weekdays (subject to volunteers).
📡 Lizard Wireless Station (Marconi)-Between Housel Bay and Lloyds Signal Station, this is where Guglielmo Marconi carried out groundbreaking wireless experiments in 1900–1901.
Here, radio communication proved it could work beyond the horizon – laying the foundations for modern global communication. Marconi later received the 1909 Nobel Prize in Physics.
🪨 Poltesco Serpentine Works (National Trust)-A fascinating hidden gem with a rich industrial history.
